@kluurs said in Are you "at home"?: I feel pretty glued down to our home. It's an art gallery, music studio, library, greenhouse... It's challenging to consider moving. Heck, just to rearrange the pictures on the wall would be a nightmare. On the other hand, our house is 2 stories with the only full bath on the second floor. It means a lot of stair climbing which is fine right now, but it may not always be so friendly a concept. When we take a trip, I'm always happy to return to home. It is comfort that envelops us. I have a friend who is a contractor. He won't build a two-story without one bedroom and a full bath on the bottom floor. He also won't build a home of any type without 36" bathroom doors.

Am thinking Stefanik will prove to be a good choice as the UN Ambassador. Haley had little foreign policy experience too but impressively rose to the occasion during her tenure. Stefanik will surely do the same. She’s aggressive and will not tolerate for a second mendacious nonsense from the likes of that Kremlin hood, Nebenzya, or the arrogance of the Iranians and many of the Arab envoys.

@Aqua-Letifer said in What was the moment…: @Mik said in What was the moment…: When you really became convinced Trump would win. For me, it was the barbershop piece. He was so comfortable, in his element, and so natural. It was then I really saw the attraction. What bumped him over the edge had nothing to do with him. The deciding votes in my opinion came from people who saw the other party ignore the working class and double down on identity politics. Their vote wasn't for Trump but "not that." Agreed. Like it or not, you know where Trump stands and what he'll do. He'll offend, but he'll lead. People in the ballot box (or on their way to vote) looking at the check box for Trump and the check box for Harris, probably saw Harris' name and thought "she's never been popular, she's associated with Biden, and now it seems she'll say whatever people want to hear which is not sincere"... or something along those lines. In other words, the vote was for "not that" (as you said) or they just didn't vote at all, given the choices. BTW @Mik for me I had a thought after Trump was shot at that "there's no way he loses now" but admittedly later in the summer was still doubtful until I kept seeing @LuFins-Dad 's poll numbers in the It's Starting thread. Knowing Trump overperforms his poll numbers, once he was tied again or leading, it seemed that is when it was over for Harris.

Bluesky has jumped to maybe 10M? But those aren't active users. I'm having a little trouble finding that number.

That's the late California vote. As long as he still wins the popular vote, I don't think it's a big deal.

@George-K said in For all those who been unable to get up because a cat's on you lap.: Yea, @LuFins-Dad , I'm looking at you.... https://x.com/shouldhaveanima/status/1856123112628109723 I swear, cats have some type of mass shifting ability. They can be light enough to cross over tissue paper without disturbing it, but when they get on your lap they shift several hundred pounds from some extra dimensional space…

I was on it once when a mid-sized moving van was scraping the top. He was going 2mph trying to power through. And the funny thing was he was not some rando who rented a U-Haul. It was a professional moving company that should have known better.

LOL. Looking at Commander's Palace menu, there's a lunch option called, "Eat fit, NOLA." Right.
